Dana Support Inc. is a fast-growing company started in 2003 by
Robert Dana, a former Internet technology executive and self-
confessed computer geek. Dana Support's clients include
small companies and organizations in many fields, including
real estate, construction management, law, medicine, engineering,
organizational consulting, market research and non-profit,
as well as home users throughout Northern Virginia and
Washington D.C.
President and Principal Consultant Robert Dana is a life-long computer enthusiast with 10 years experience working in the IT industry. Throughout his career, he has moved between both technology and business leadership roles, bringing deep technical expertise to bear in guiding product and service strategies for two entrepreneurial companies.
While completing a computer science degree at Rice University, Robert joined Interliant, Inc., a pioneering application service provider. Over the next 5 years, he helped to grow the company privately from 7 to 180 employees and $26M in annual revenue as Director of Network Services and then VP of Product Management. He played an important role in Interliant’s subsequent acquisition and IPO, and became Chief Technology Officer for Application Outsourcing for the combined public company, leading R&D efforts and becoming a frequent public speaker as evangelist for Interliant’s technology vision.
After Interliant, Robert joined Xevo Corp., an early-stage software company in the Boston area selling to large Internet Service Providers. Telecommuting from his home in Atlanta, he served as Chief Architect, and later as VP of Solution Delivery and Product Management. In additional to providing internal guidance for Xevo’s product strategy, Robert was the primary technical contact for the company’s close partnerships with major vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco, and KPMG Consulting, negotiating technical standards for product interoperability and working to ensure Xevo’s continued market leadership.
Robert started Dana Support in 2003, motivated by an interest in returning to “hands on” technical work and to be able to spend more time with his family. He lives in Springfield, VA with his wife and daughter. In addition to computer-related hobbies, he enjoys hiking, reading, cooking and cycling.
